THE COMO MAMAS are DELLA DANIELS, ESTER MAE WILBOURNE, and ANGELIA TAYLOR. A gospel trio from Como, Mississippi. Their first album, Get an Understanding, was an all a capella favorite among many gospel fans. In December of 2015, the Como Mamas flew up to New York to appear as part of the DAPTONE SUPER SOUL REVUE which was playing three nights at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity to record these amazing singers at the Daptone studio, we booked a recording session for a few days after the show. This time, though, they would be backed by The GLORIFIERS BAND, consisting of top Daptone musicians
HOMER STEINWEISSTHOMAS BRENNECKBOSCO MANN, and JIMMY HILL. The result is an album of raw soulful traditional gospel like you’ve never heard before. Angelia growls the lead on “Move Upstairs,” which shuffles down the line like a freight train. On the flip, Della “counts her blessings” over a grinding four minutes of gospel-funk. Amen, sisters.
