You wouldn't know it to listen to the smoothest album in Steely Dan's already impossibly smooth catalogue, but the recording of 1980's Gaucho was plagued with difficulty. Churning through over forty musicians across a whole year of recording, amongst other legal headaches for the band, this would be the final album the band would release for another two decades. But what a way to go, with tunes like Hey Nineteen, Babylon Sisters, and Time Out Of Mind (featuring Mark Knopfler) sitting amongst the band's best moments. Newly remastered, the album is set for reissue at the start of next month! - Flying Out
At long last: the classic Steely Dan catalog is back on vinyl. Led by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, Steely Dan released 7 albums from 1972-1980.
The vinyl series continues with Gaucho, the band’s 1980 album featuring Hey Nineteen and Time Out Of Mind, featuring Mark Knopfler on guitar. The LP has been remastered by Bernie Grundman sourced from a 1980 analog tape copy originally EQ’d by Bob Ludwig.
