PIGBABY
i don't care if anyone listens to this shit once you do (Limited Vinyl LP)
"When The Face published an article in March of this year with the headline "pigbaby dresses like a pig and makes music like Daniel Johnston", it was all we could do to mark our calendars for this day and await what is hands down one of the most brilliantly batty releases we've heard in some time. Fragile, fabulous, bizarre, and broken, pigbaby's mad and majestic i don't care if anyone listens to this shit once you do arrives today on Vegyn's own label PLZ Make It Ruins." - Flying Out
It's a record about love, heartbreak, hope and recollections from pigbaby's past.
Drawing from a surreal, daydream-like cloud of reference points, the songwriting of mysterious Irish artist pigbaby is painfully honest, and sonically unconventional. His music shares parallels with oddball auteurs such as Daniel Johnston and Jim O'Rourke experimental, ambient singer-songwriters who deal in rough-edged truth-telling.
During a period of particular bleakness in 2021, pigbaby fled the world he knew and travelled along windy, wet roads to find a small cottage in the Irish countryside to nest in. Armed with 3 bottles of whiskey, some potatoes and sausages, old synthesisers, a harmonium and cassette tapes he found in his mother's attic, pigbaby started to craft his debut album. Over the course of 2 months many people came to visit, and with the help of Max Granger, Maria Somerville, Felix Stephens & Cajm, i don't care if anyone listens to this shit once you do was realised.
