The Flying Out whanau have been big fans of Nala Sinephro’s experimental, ambient jazz compositions since her 2021 debut Space 1.8, and our love only grew with last year's Endlessness. Now, she makes her film score debut for Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine! The Safdie brothers’ scores are some of the best of the decade, and with Sinephro in the lead, featuring longstanding collaborators Nubya Garcia, Sheila Maurice-Grey, James Mollison, and more, alongside the London orchestra Orchestrate. This is sure to be special, earning the fifteen-minute standing ovation it recently received at the Venice International Film Festival. - Flying Out

This is Nala Sinephro's debut original film score, for Benny Safdie's The Smashing Machine, which was premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival (to a 15min standing ovation!!) ahead of its official release on October 3rd. The Smashing Machine explores the story of legendary mixed martial arts & UFC fighter Mark Kerr, and it stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt. The score was composed, produced, arranged, mixed and mastered by Nala Sinephro, and it features performances by longstanding collaborators James Mollison, Nubya Garcia, Lyle Barton, Dwayne ‘Wonky Logic’ Kilvington, Morgan Simpson, Natcyet Wakili, Mark Mollison and Sheila Maurice-Grey. As well as the London orchestra Orchestrate, who previously provided strings for Sinephro’s 2024 critically acclaimed album, Endlessness.
