The Past Is Still Alive (Vinyl LP, Orange)

Vinyl LP (Orange)
Centred around the songs of New Orleans songwriter Alynda Segarra, Hurray For The Riff Raff put the "alt" in alt-country, with even their poppiest sensibilities dressed in snakeskin pants and torn leather. New album The Past Is Still Alive - the band's ninth to date - sees Segarra once again teaming with producer and musician Brad Cook (Snail Mail, Kevin Morby), alongside the likes of Conor Oberst, Anjimile, and Hand Habits' Meg Duffy. With songs born out of a period of grief and infused with the spirit of activism, there's never been a finer moment to tune into the crucial and cool as heck work of Hurray For The Riff Raff. - Flying Out

The Past Is Still Alive sees Hurray for the Riff Raff reunite with Brad Cook, while further expanding their creative cast of collaborators. Anjimile, Conor Oberst, and S.G. Goodman all join Alynda Segarra on vocals at various points throughout the LP, with a band of musicians including Cook, Libby Rodenbough, Matt Douglas, Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, Mike Mogis, Phil Cook, and Yan Westerlund. Mike Mogis also mixed the album, and it was mastered by Heba Kadry.
