Why ask Chris Bangs to compile a set for Ace? Because few have lived UK club culture like he has. From shaping the sound of rare groove, Latin jazz and soul in the '80s, to coining the term "acid jazz" alongside Gilles Peterson, Bangs has been a fixture of British dance music across decades. He’s produced for Paul Weller, remixed Roy Ayers, and played everywhere from Special Branch to Bournemouth weekenders. With The Playbox, Bangs brings a lifetime of crate-digging to a wild selection of soul, jazz-funk, and curveball floor-fillers — a celebration of the sound and spirit of the dance.
