The Rockers Sound (aka Steppas) came from the mid 70’s and was created during sessions with The Revolutionaires band at Channel 1. Drummer Sly Dunbar came up with a new ‘Militant’ style double drumming on the snare drum that seemed to add some credence to the political / Rasta based lyrics that were so prominent around this time. So for this compilation Kingston Sounds have pulled together some of the best cuts from this period when producer Bunny Lee was on the top of his game and the sound in town to get on board with was ‘Rockers’. It features cuts from Cornell Campbell, Dennis Brown, Horace Andy, I Roy, Leroy Smart etc.

  1. Cornell Campbell - Control Your Daughters
  2. Dennis Brown - Children Of Israel
  3. Johnny Clarke - Rockers Time Now
  4. Junior Delgado - Devil's Throne
  5. I-Roy - Crisis Time
  6. Leroy Smart - I Don't Like It
  7. Lloyd Charmers - R.O.C.K. (Rockers)
  8. The Morwells - In God We Trust
  9. Cornell Campbell - No Man's Land
  10. Dennis Brown - Whip Them Jah
  11. Jackie Mittoo & The Aggrovators - Channel 1 Crash
  12. Horace Andy - Money Money
  13. Bim Sherman - Down In Jamtown
  14. Johnny Clarke - Peace And Love In The Ghetto
