Forming in California in 1980, Bad Religion is an American punk rock band notable for their lyrical themes relating to religion, politics, society, the media, and science. They're iconic for their melodic sensibilities and wide use of three-part vocal harmonies.
Released in 1998, No Substance is the band's third studio album with Atlantic Records. It was anticipated by critics as a result of the band's previously worldwide successes with Stranger Than Fiction and The Gray Race. The album features iconic tracks like The State of The End of The Millennium Address, which is written like a speech, and Shades of Truth, which explores the connection between modern times and religious crusading of the seventeenth century.
