Witness Devendra's sound expanding as he and his company effortlessly transform across the album from sun-dappled psychedelic gypsies to acid-damaged garage-band and gentle folk troubadours.
Cripple Crow is Devendra Banhart's third album on XL Recordings. Devendra Banhart made a big impact on the international music scene in 2004 with two acclaimed albums, Rejoicing In The Hands and Nino Rojo.
Cripple Crow was recorded at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, NY with regular sidekicks Andy Cabic, Noah Georgeson and Thom Monahan.
Cripple Crow features 22 new songs with Devendra continuing his extraordinary growth as a writer, vocalist and musician. We witness Devendra's sound expanding as he and his company effortlessly transform across the album from sun-dappled psychedelic gypsies to acid-damaged garage-band and gentle folk troubadours. The hushed, mysterious acoustic alchemy that has delighted his fans still remains, but there is also a more elaborate element, featuring a range of electric instruments, a rock rhythm section, sitar, flute, violin, cello and exotic percussion.
