One of the most necessary outfits on Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound label, Dub Syndicate began as another of Sherwood's collaborative studio projects, eventually transforming into a formidable live band led by Lincoln "Style" Scott. Scott was murdered in Jamaica in 2014, but he left behind some unbelievable records, four of which have been announced for reissue. Strike the Balance (1989), Stoned Immaculate (1991), Echomania (1994), and Ital Breakfast (1996) have all been announced for tasty reissue, alongside a fifth LP of new dub versions from Sherwood himself. Obscured By Version finds Sherwood back at the controls, revisiting the 89-96 era, and concocting whole new magic from his work with Style Scott. - Flying Out
Another great Dub Syndicate set, Strike the Balance features vocal contributions from mainstay Bim Sherman on a cover of Lloyd & Devon’s “Cuss Cuss”, and Shara Nelson (Massive Attack) on a version of Serge Gainsbourg's "Je T'aime." Originally released in 1989, and coinciding with the beginnings of Dub Syndicate as a touring unit.
