American songwriter and guitarist Kurt Vile made a few significant breaks from his past with his fifth solo album, 2013’s ‘Wakin On A Pretty Daze’. Not only was it a significant sonic expansion of his aesthetic, his fingerpicking style and tendency toward complex guitar workouts rolling into lengthy dream-rock excursions, but it was also Vile’s first without his frequent collaborator and former bandmate Adam Granduciel (of The War On Drugs).
