John Legend rose to fame in the mid noughties, after making a name for himself as guest musician for Lauryn Hill, Slum Village and Kanye West among others. When Kanye started his own label G.O.O.D. ("Getting Out Our Dreams"), Get Lifted would be the first release to see the light.
Resembling a style made popular in the '70s by Sly & The Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Quincy Jones and Bill Withers, Legend knows his chops and delivers an all-time classic R&B album ready for the new millennium.
Original vinyl copies of Get Lifted are quite hard to come by, which makes a reissue of this title more than welcome for Soul and Hip Hop fans.
