Prospect Hummer (Reissue) (Vinyl 12")
This very special little EP from Animal Collective is, mind bogglingly, nearly twenty years old now. Released just before the classic album Feels arrived, its place in the band's catalogue may have been somewhat overlooked, but we're crossing fingers this new 12" vinyl reissue will put it back on its deserved pedestal. All four of the Collective were on board for this one, and three of the four lush lullabies here feature the one and only Vashti Bunyan on vocals. In our humblest of opinions, these are some of the very best moments in the band's sprawling archive. - Flying Out
Prospect Hummer was recorded by the band's friend Rusty Santos (co-producer of 2004's Sung Tongs) and originally released in May 2005. The EP features singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan on three of the four tracks and was released shortly before the band's 2005 release Feels. All four band members - Avey Tare, Deakin, Geologist, and Panda Bear - feature on this release.
