Headless Heroes Of The Apocalypse is an epic album by American soul artist Eugene McDaniels. It is a vinyl classic with an eclectic mix of funk, soul and folk. The jazz band which is backing McDaniel adds the swing to all the incredible arrangements. 'Supermarket Blues' is a song in which he focuses on the racial acts, while 'The Parasite (for Buffy)' is a ten-minute tribute to the Native Americans. The album has been prized and sampled by the hip-hop community dozens of times. It is a dark and political psychedelic soul album with excellent grooves, a masterpiece which is now available again on vinyl. Eugene McDaniels (1935-2011) was an African-American musician who rose to fame during the early 1960s. After his first hit, 'A Hundred Pounds of Clay', reached number 3 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart he released a couple of other hits. He had been living for years out of the spotlights before launching a series of YouTube videos with thoughts about his music in 2010. A year later he passed away.
