Your favourite indie band's favourite indie band, The Durutti Column's shining 1979 debut has received a remaster, ready for your collection just in time for the album's 45th anniversary. Minimalist drum machine beats meet humming synth textures and cruisy guitar lines with a healthy dose of jangle and reverb, resulting in a warm instrumental record that proved quietly influential over years to come. Humble beginnings of Durutti Column exciting take on jazzy, ambient-leaning dream-pop are in full force on this certified classic! - Flying Out
Alongside Joy Division, The Durutti Column were among the first artists signed to Factory Records. Their 1980 debut, produced by Martin Hannett, highlighted Vini Reilly’s delicate, reverb-laden guitar and early use of synthesizers.
The Return of The Durutti Column marked the beginning of a five-decade career in which The Durutti Column quietly became one of Manchester’s most influential acts. To mark the album’s 45th anniversary, London Records presents new editions, remastered from the original tapes and cut at half-speed for vinyl.
