Gala (35th Anniversary Reissue) (Vinyl LP)
The 4AD team round off their Lush reissue campaign with Gala, the band’s debut compilation and a cornerstone of the UK shoegaze sound, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Gathering highlights from Scar, Mad Love and Sweetness and Light (in reverse order, of course), plus a welcome cover of ABBA’s Hey Hey Helen and Robin Guthrie’s extended mix of Scarlet, Gala returns to print for the first time since its original 1990 release taking us back to where it all began. - Flying Out
We’re delighted to complete our reissues of Lush’s albums with ‘Gala’, a pillar of the shoegaze genre. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
Lush’s Gala was the band’s debut compilation album, comprising their earliest releases — Scar (1989), Mad Love (1990), and Sweetness and Light (1990) — in reverse chronological order, plus two additional tracks (a cover version of ABBA’s “Hey Hey Helen” and the extended Robin Guthrie mix of Scar track “Scarlet”). Originally released in 1990 as the band’s introduction to the US and Japanese markets, the com- pilation’s 35th anniversary is being celebrated with a 2025 reissue with new remasters by Kevin Vanbergen. Back in print for the first time since 1990, the LP features original artwork by V23.
