Not just here in Aotearoa but across the globe, the 2008 debut from Pip Brown marked a defining moment in the late-’00s synth-pop revival. Coated in a neon sheen, but built around a scrappy, DIY edge, Ladyhawke's first effort became a global favourite, in part due to the insanely catchy singles “My Delirium,” & “Paris Is Burning,”. Ladyhawke is the debut studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Pip Brown, originally released in 2008. The album is rooted in synth-pop and new wave, drawing clear influence from 1980s electronic pop through its use of synthesizers, programmed drums, and guitar-driven arrangements.

This re-issue faithfully replicates the original 13 track UK version with its gatefold sleeve and lyric booklet, and is pressed on 180g vinyl.

Brown wrote the songs based on personal experiences, with lyrics frequently addressing anxiety, relationships, and feelings of disconnection.  The album produced several successful singles, including "My Delirium," "Paris Is Burning," "Dusk Till Dawn," and "Back of the Van," which helped establish Ladyhawke as an international pop act. Musically, the record combines upbeat tempos and polished production with darker emotional themes, creating a contrast between energetic soundscapes and introspective content. Brown's vocal delivery is controlled and direct, contributing to the album's consistent tone.
