By now you'll have hopefully caught director (and member of seminal punk group YFC) Jonathan Ogilvie's faithfully depicted Christchurch post-punk-era film Head South, and revelled in its killer soundtrack. Featuring an original score from Shayne Carter (Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer), the album includes performances from Carter alongside the film's own Stella "Benee" Bennett. - Flying Out
Head South — in cinemas October 31st — is a portal back in time to the Christchurch music scene of 1979. Director Jonathan Ogilvie from cult band YFC has faithfully recreated a singular moment that was at once post-punk, culminating in a recreation of legendary venue Mollett St.
The original motion picture soundtrack features an original score by Shayne Carter of Straitjacket Fits and Dimmer plus songs arranged and performed by Shayne Carter and Stella Bennett (Benee), and more post-punk songs as performed in the film.
