The Crocodiles’ debut Tears remains one of the most memorable of New Zealand pop’s early‑80s landscape. Released in April 1980, the album, and its title track, both climbed the local charts, launching the band into that year’s NZ Music Awards, where they took home Best Group and Most Promising Group. In 2001 Tears was voted No. 26 in APRA’s list of the greatest NZ songs of all time, not bad for a short‑lived outfit that's well worth revisiting. - Flying Out
