Ōtautahi-based artist LA Mitchell, aka Lauren Barus, (Terrible Sons, Fly My Pretties, Bill Withers Social Club) makes a stunning return with her new album, Meaningful Work, melding all her previous voyages in music into one. The album – a blissful journey of honest lyrics and edgy beats wrapped in lush layers of experimental alt-pop with Mitchell’s powerful and precise vocals – marks the beginning of a new trajectory for LA Mitchell. ‘It's like digging for buried treasure in these songs – we put so many little sonic details of meaning in each piece,’ Lauren says. Meaningful Work was produced, engineered and mixed by Mark Perkins, aka Merk, and expertly mastered by Brock McFarlane at CPS Mastering.
