You don't have to know me well to know that in only five years Fontaines D.C. have become one of my all time favourite artists. While I tend to gravitate towards Dogrel and Romance is permeating today's zeitgeist; I've found myself revisiting the diamond that slipped through the cracks, A Hero's Death, recently. This album has the darkness we love from Skinty Fia yet contains the energy of Dogrel through songs like Televised Mind and A Lucid Dream and the hopeful nostalgia of 2024's hit single Favourite through a more reserved lens in Oh Such A Spring. This album really is a great soundtrack to the resigned gloom that appears as we settle into March.

A Hero's Death arrives battered and bruised, albeit beautiful - a heady and philosophical take on the modern World, and its great uncertainty.
A Hero's Death is an intensely confident, patient, and complex follow up that follows their acclaimed debut album Dogrel - released in April 2019, that earned Dublin's Fontaines D.C. the Mercury Prize nomination and scored high on many End Of Year lists.
