A pairing that seems at first glance at odds with Kieran "Four Tet" Hebden's current trajectory - contemplative guitarist and cult favourite William Tyler is no Skrillex or Fred again... - it's important to remember Hebden's roots in lush, thoughtful soundscaping. This is the artist who gave us 2003's note-perfect album Rounds, and the Darkness, Darkness 12" draws on some of this warmth, pairing rolling rhythms with Tyler's restrained but grooving guitar with a vocal sample from Gloria Loring's 1969 song of the same name. Nice.
