Ascending marks a subtle but significant shift for Clear Path Ensemble, the fourth album from bandleader Cory Champion, locking into improvising with and in response to himself. Recorded over a single day in the same room, the album unfolds as a series of layered sonic environments, expanding on the sensibilities first heard on last years Black Sand while honing in the spirit of late‑’70s and early‑’80s minimalist, new‑age and ambient exploration. A window into Champion’s evolving musical philosophy, one that has earnt him the APRA Best Jazz Composition Award and a nomination at this years Aotearoa Music Awards.

How It Works
Each month the F|O team get together to hand pick a new album that we think you'll really love or need to hear. Whether that be local or international, alt-rock or jazz and all the genres in between, it's a chance to keep getting amazing new music (or provide a gift).
Each record will come a special something extra, whether that be an exclusive variant or merchandise, bonus add ons or discount. It's something different each month which just adds to the surprise.

+ Your subscription will be posted out direct to your door (or someone else's if you want to give as a gift) but you can also select the Store Pick Up option if you are local.

F|O Record Club FAQs
What is the F|O Record Club?
It is our monthly subscription service. Each month you will receive our hand picked Album of the Month delivered to your door.
We aim to make the selection as varied as possible but it will always be something we love (and think you will too). Plus it always come with a special something extra or exclusive material which varies month to month. It's all part of the surprise.
When will it arrive?
Well, to be fair, it will vary month to month, depending on the album's release date.
We pick our album from all the releases in that month so you might get two in quick succession or there be a few weeks between.
Regardless we will stay in touch with everyone who joins to let them know exactly what the album is and when it will be shipping. You will know what you are receiving and when before it has been shipped to you.
What if I don't like your pick?
That's ok - we understand there are many reasons why that might be the case. However, if you receive an album as part of your subscription that you either don't like, or have already ordered we can sort that out
We are a bunch of nice folks here and can sort out an alternative option for you or organise some credit. We'll just need charge any difference in price. Send us an email at orders@flyingout.co.nz and will fix this up right away.
Can I gift someone a subscription?
Absolutely. What a nice person you are!
You can buy a subscription and put their email and physical address details in for it to be sent direct. Please note, the card number you use to buy this will be the one that is recharged in the future (though we can easily update this).
You can also reach out to us direct and we can figure out a way that works best for you.
Do I have to be in NZ?
Nah, you can subscribe from anywhere but our standard international shipping charges will be incurred.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel your membership after 30 days. Just send us an email and we can close this for you.
