Must be nice being one of The Chemical Brothers. Twiddle a few knobs, tinkle some keys, slappa the bass, job’s a good’un. This ethos was in full effect on the duo’s 1997 album ‘Dig Your Own Hole’. Rightly regarded as one of Big Beat’s seminal tomes (see also: ‘You’ve Come A Long Way Baby’; ‘The Fat Of The Land’; ‘Remedy’), this LP remains a blueprint for how to fuse psychedelic production, club heft and pop nouse. ‘Dig Your Own Hole’ is the one with ‘Block Rockin’ Beats’ and the Noel Gallagher-featuring ‘Setting Sun’ on it.
