When The Flowers Bloom (Vinyl LP)
When The Flowers Bloom spirals through different emotions – from the deepest sadness to the happiest bliss, and everything in between – with Lionmilk paying tribute to “the family that we choose and don’t. I always fall back to the people I trust and love in a time of crisis or in low points during the journey.” all i have follows get high, a gently anthemic tune which he called his “heartbreak song.”
Lionmilk produced, wrote, and performed every instrument on the album. Each personal story is told with a different musical style: only one calls back to Lionmilk’s DIY and lo-fi roots; instrumental tom is in heaven pays tribute to a family friend who introduced Lionmilk to jazz; and não mais saudade focuses the Brazilian concept of saudade (longing) onto a story of relationships.
Even when Lionmilk’s going through it, the songs stay light – as he puts it, “a ‘cheer up’ for my depressed ass.” As he grows and learns, everything comes full circle in an eternal bloom.
