Both were recorded at \u003cstrong\u003eThe\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eLab\u003c\/strong\u003e in Auckland with \u003cstrong\u003eTerry\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eMoore\u003c\/strong\u003e (from \u003cstrong\u003eThe\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eChills\u003c\/strong\u003e). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eHail\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is an album that beautifully showcases the many strengths of \u003cstrong\u003eStraitjacket\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eFits\u003c\/strong\u003e in the early part of their development. It is a record full of furious off-piste guitaring and startling vocals anchored by a granite hard rhythm section but that also showcases gentler melodic material including a cover of \u003cstrong\u003eLeonard\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eCohen’s\u003c\/strong\u003e ‘\u003cem\u003eSo\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cem\u003eLong\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cem\u003eMarianne\u003c\/em\u003e’. But generally the songs are more experimental in nature with a considerable range of material from \u003cstrong\u003eAndrew\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eBrough’s\u003c\/strong\u003e standout ‘\u003cem\u003eFabulous\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cem\u003eThings’\u003c\/em\u003e to the vigorous guitar noise of \u003cstrong\u003eShayne\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eCarter’s\u003c\/strong\u003e ‘\u003cem\u003eGrate’\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eHail\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is a documentation of a band on the up, a band flexing its potential and oozing confidence and optimism.
