Iron & Wine are really fond of George Michael’s “One More Try,” for some reason. First they covered it for the AV Club, now they’re releasing it as a single called Two Sides of George (on its b-side, the band covered the Lowell George-fronted Little Feat’s “Trouble,” get it?). Sam Beam’s said that “One More Try” is a great tune whose lasting power is hidden by cheesy ‘80s production, so of course his band’s stripped-down cover reveals the beautiful, yearning song it is at heart – we’re loving that orchestral instrumentation (especially the horns!) and those gorgeous choir vocals.
