Drawing influence from the wet, windblown landscapes of coastal New Zealand, French for Rabbits hail from the remote natural setting of Waikuku Beach, in NZs South Island. Vocalist Brooke Singer expresses intimate narratives against the cast of the damp colonial cold; her voice delicately steeled against John Fitzgeralds winsome guitar lines, and the eerie instrumentation of their bandmates (Ben Lemi & Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa). French for Rabbits are infused with a cold, brooding gaze evident through carefully decaying beats and glacial guitars. Their debut LP ‚Spirits was released on the 27th of October on Lefse Records (home to A Sunny Day in Glasgow among others). In New Zealand, Spirits was released on 31 October on diligent indie label Home Alone Music. The release coincided with an extensive tour in October November 2014, where the opened for Danish chanteuse Agnes Obel in some of the most beautiful concert halls through Europe. - frenchforrabbits.com
