What this sextet lacked in quantity of shows it made up for with creativeness, power, and inspiration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen \u003cstrong\u003ePigpen\u003c\/strong\u003e re-joined the \u003cstrong\u003eDead\u003c\/strong\u003e on December 1, 1971, after a few months off during which \u003cstrong\u003eKeith\u003c\/strong\u003e had joined as piano player, the band was now an unstoppably powerful live juggernaut it hadn’t been since the height of the \u003cstrong\u003ePrimal Dead\u003c\/strong\u003e era in late 1968-1969. Widely considered one of the best shows from the \u003cstrong\u003ePigpen-Keith\u003c\/strong\u003e era of the \u003cstrong\u003eGrateful Dead\u003c\/strong\u003e, December 10, 1971 in St. Louis has it all: \u003cstrong\u003ePigpen\u003c\/strong\u003e singing lead on four songs including an 18-minute version of \u003cem\u003eGood Lovin’\u003c\/em\u003e and a very rare performance of \u003cem\u003eRun Rudolph Run\u003c\/em\u003e; a deep dive into the \u003cem\u003eDead’s\u003c\/em\u003e psychedelic recent past with a monster version of \u003cem\u003eThe Other One\u003c\/em\u003e; plus plenty of the new material from earlier in 1971 like \u003cem\u003eBertha\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eLoser\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eSugaree\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003ePlaying In The Band\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey also hit upon much of the music that would appear the following year on Europe ‘72, such as \u003cem\u003eJack Straw\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eTennessee Jed\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eMr. Charlie\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003eOne More Saturday Night\u003c\/em\u003e.
