It all came about following Alistair inviting Chelsea to sing on his track Secrets •À_•À_•À_ a song developed from a misheard melody - which set in motion her relentless and eventually successful campaign to be a part of Boycrush.
Boycrush is the moniker of Alistair Deverick, an accomplished drummer who, while on tour with•À_•À_The Ruby Suns,•À_•À_began spending his downtime huddled over a laptop. The result was not a series of passive aggressive blog entries on livejournal but rather a euphoric 4 track electronic pop EP entitled•À_•À_'Everybody All The Time'. A shy application harbouring these songs led to acceptance into Red Bull's Music Academy in Madrid and Deverick putting out a split 7•À_ó? with Grayson Gilmour, a contribution to a Sub Pop / Ruby Suns remix vinyl and to finally showing his friends what he had been up to.
Flip over, and you have Watercolours' latest track Soft Teeth, her first single since the release of the dreamy EP -•À_•À_Portals. Watercolours has also•À_•À_been keeping occupied opening for the likes of Lorde, Cat Power and Dirty Projectors since being awarded the local Critic's Choice accolade in late 2012. Now Chelsea is working on the follow up release to Portals amidst regularly stealing off to New York to write.
