Orbital 2 (The Brown Album) (Vinyl 2LP)
With samples from such unexpected sources as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Withnail & I, UK electronic duo Orbital's 1993 untitled follow-up album was never going to be an ordinary techno record. The extra mile the pair went in creating a sound and style all their own has ultimately paid off, with "The Brown Album" still considered fresh and fruity over thirty years later. Reissued for the first time in over a decade, it's time to remember what the fuss was all about. - Flying Out
Originally released in 1993, Orbital's sophomore album (known as The Brown Album) marked a significant evolution in the band’s sound. Tracks such as Halcyon + On + On, Impact (The Earth Is Burning) and Lush 3-1 and Lush 3-2 demonstrated new levels of scope and ambition, the album reaching new levels of emotional connection for electronic music and balancing rhythms with melodic flourishes.
The Brown Album was regarded as an instant classic, with NME awarding the album 9/10, and it was chosen as one of Mixmag’s Best Dance Albums of all time.
Reissued on vinyl for the first time in a decade, The Brown Album has been cut at half speed, to ensure maximum audio fidelity for this landmark release.
