With their third studio album, 1994’s Mars Audiac Quintet, Stereolab began to focus slightly more on pop forms rather than rock. The results are uniformly stunning, perfectly pitched between the droning krautrock of their early work and the space-age experimental pop forms they would embrace on later albums.
