WEE

Try Me / Teach Me How

Variant

In the wake of Capsoul's collapse, songwriter Norman Whiteside was left to fend for himself in a much bleaker Columbus, Ohio. After a few misfires and false alarms, he finally found a home in (Prix recording artist) Joe King's band Wee. Some personal problems sidelined Joe shortly thereafter, and Wee became the Norman Whiteside project. Try Me epitomizes Norman's vision: glimmering mid-tempo grooves that wink at disco sound without shirking their own soulful ambition. Teach Me How slows it down to a stepper's tempo. Wee on Owl 45 captured another beautiful moment in Columbus soul history.
