TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS

The holiday season is over and Camp A Low Hum (R.I.P.) has been and gone, so it's heads down/bums up around the office. With so many exciting new projects in the works it's only a matter of months before you, the reader, will reap the rewards! So while we stretch our wrists to avoid RSI, start clearing your calender and saving your bus change because you're in for one hell of a ride.

Also, congratulations to Tim from Te Atatu who penned a heartfelt valentine and won a double pass to see Neko Case perform at the Powerstation on March 14 and a signedcopy of her latest LP.

Check out his entry here.

Signalling the release of their sophomore album Brightly Painted One, it's with open arms that Tiny Ruins has been welcomed into the families of Arch HillSpunk,Flying Nun and Bella Union. From her solo beginnings, Hollie Fullbrook is now joined by touring mates Cass Basil and Alexander Freer on an album that promises a minimalist approach, layered and shaped with an array of brass, percussion and strings. While you wait for the release in early May, take a listen to Tiny Ruins' first single Me At The Museum, You In The Wintergardens and check out her previous LP Some Were Meant For The Sea.

TRICK MAMMOTH - NEW VIDEO - DELPHINE (WITH A PURPOSE)
Using the fourth track from their debut Floristry, Dunedin's Trick Mammoth have put a face to the noise with a video for Delphine (With A Purpose). What's her purpose? Better watch and find out. While you are working it out make sure you aren't distracted by the hard work of Emily Hlavac Green who created the clip. Sighting the video as a behind the scenes look into the shoot for their cover art, Trick Mammoth's - Floristry LP is still wowing audiences.

NEW LABEL: MELTED ICE CREAM

Cassettes are ruining the music industry.... turns out it’s all Joe Sampson (T54) and Melted Ice Cream’s fault.

The boutique Christchurch label has become a home for small, hand dubbed tape runs of independent NZ artists. Melted Ice Cream’s musical output is planned at a causal pace, with Sampson picking and choosing bands he admires.

Instead of spending your spare moments learning the hard truths about your personality from Buzzfeed quizzes why don't you come to Flying Out and sample some of our new daily editorial.
