Flying Out

When I say "I'm in love you best believe I'm in love L.U.V.

Not only does the 14th of February mark the release of Season Two of House Of Cards, it's the day after Galentines Day and it's Valentines Day. Most companies will try to pressure you into buying watches, chocolates or lingerie, but here at Flying Out we will do what we have been doing for the past 27 newsletters - try to peer pressure you into buying LP's, CDs, tapes and various merchandise.

This week we have new releases from Young HellionsGrayson Gilmour plus news about The VerlainesNeko Case and more.

RELEASE OF THE WEEK
The self-titled eponymous release from Young Hellions is self described as; 'a haphazard experiment in creating a bigger sound – in four parts.' After locking herself away for months and developing a cabin fever mentality, Maeve Munro (Cat VenomThe Bengal Lights) has emerged with four tracks melded with layers of synths, guitar and reverb. It’s homemade shoegaze with a fuzzy, rough-around-the-edges charm – perfectly imperfect and released on Muzai Records. Click to stream and or download Young Hellions EP from Flying Out.

OFF THE TUBE
Following Minus Times InfinityLichtung is the second offering from Grayson Gilmour's upcoming album 'Infinite Life!'. Lichtung, either means forest clearing or a clearing in a forest - we are not quite sure. But we do know it was once used by a passionate German fan to describe the tension + release within Gg's music (#fanfacts). Infinite Life! is Grayson's 5th album and will be released digitally on March 14th via Flying Nun RecordsFor those of you who like getting physical, Flying Out is taking pre-orders to help raise funds for a vinyl release as well. These pre-orders - along with some special extras - are available in store here.

NEKO CASE GIVEAWAY!
Not only are we ecstatic that Grammy nominated Neko Case is performing in Auckland at the Powerstation on March 14, but we at Flying Out have also got a double pass to the show and a signed copy of her recent LP The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You to giveaway. To win, compose a valentine to our stoically alone stock manager Kenneth, email it through to us here with your name and address and the most endearing will receive the prize. xoxo.
THE VERLAINES LIVE IN DUNEDIN
To show Dunedin how it's done, the original cast of The Verlaines will perform Hallelujah All The Way Home in it's entirety this Saturday at Sammy's. Coming off the back of last years re-issues, The Verlaines have shown their debut album is still as visceral and intelligent 29 years after it's release. With support from The PuddleThe Shifting Sands and Tiny Pieces of Eight, there is even a matinee show for those who are afraid of the dark. Get your tickets from UTR and tool up over at Flying Out
